Objective

To deliver a highly passionate and comprehensive teaching experience to middle school students, and to create flexible programs and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth in line with each student’s individual skills.


Teaching Experience

Ethel Dwyer Middle School - math Teacher - 2018 - Present

●           Designed and implemented Math 6, Math 7, and Math 7 Accelerated lessons to align with Common Core State Standards.

●           Prepare students for benchmarks and SBAC exams through differentiated instruction and tapping into their higher-order thinking skills.

●           Utilized technology and other Measure Q modernization elements to provide individualized lessons along with creating collaborative spaces for learning.

●           Created enrichment and distance-learning content utilizing different forms of technology such as Google Classroom and creating videos to help students continue their education and stay engaged during the school closure.

LePort Fountain Valley - Math Teacher - 2014 - 2018

●        Designed and implemented Algebra 1 and Geometry lessons to align with Common Core State Standards.

●        Developed Singapore Math curriculum using bar modeling to bridge concrete and abstract concepts and relate mathematics to the physical world.

●        Provided small group and individual instruction in order to adapt lessons to the individual needs of students with different intellectual abilities.

●        Increased standardized test scores to above 85th percentile by providing additional individual assistance.

●        Mentored and counseled students in academics, organization, and time management.

●        Led project-based learning groups in editing photos, videos, and audio using Photoshop, Lightroom, Final Cut Pro X, Premier Pro, and Logic Pro X.

●        Editor-in-chief of the school yearbook.

Math Teacher - Graves Middle School (SWSD) - 2011 - 2012

●        Designed and implemented lesson plans to retain and improve proficiency on standardized tests for Honors Pre-Algebra.

●        Led grade-level mathematics team in collaboration to establish pacing and common assessments.

●        Established and maintained consistent standards of pupil behavior providing an orderly environment for productive learning.

●        Designed and implemented lesson plans for two AVID sections.

Math Teacher - Willard Intermediate (SAUSD) 2009 - 2011

●        Designed and implemented lesson plans to maintain and improve at least 80% proficiency on standardized tests for Honors Pre-Algebra.

●        Led grade-level mathematics team in collaboration to establish pacing and common assessments.

●        Designed and implemented lesson plans for two AVID sections.

●        Evaluated individual student performance and growth in knowledge and understanding which guided future instruction.

●        Member of technology committee to decide on best products and programs to invest in and help implement them throughout the school.

Math teacher - Santa Ana High School (SAUSD) - 2010

●        Designed and implemented lesson plans for students from 9th – 12th grade to become proficient in Algebra I.

Math teacher - South Lake Middle School (IUSD) 2006 - 2009

●        Designed and implemented lesson plans for Introduction to Pre-Algebra, Pre-Algebra and Transitional Algebra (7th & 8th grade math).

●        Used formative assessment techniques to guide instruction and pacing.

●        Reached out to all levels of students with differentiated instruction strategies, stressing “discovery” and laboratory learning methods.

●        Instructed math and homeroom students in citizenship and study skills.

●        Helped students improve writing and problem-solving skills by giving a quarterly problem-solving assessment that included a specific rubric.

●        Member of Irvine Unified School District’s Teacher Advisory Forum.

●        Member of the textbook adoption committee and piloted a new textbook for use with Algebra students.
